Dominant groups

Analysis of the need for assistance of males in Gold Coast City compared to Palm Beach shows that there was a higher proportion of males who reported needing assistance with core activities.

Overall, 5.4% of the male population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 4.6% for Palm Beach.

The major differences in the male age groups reporting a need for assistance in Gold Coast City and Palm Beach were:

  • A larger percentage of males aged 85 and over (40.1% compared to 34.3%)
  • A larger percentage of males aged 5 to 9 (6.1% compared to 4.0%)
  • A larger percentage of males aged 75 to 79 (15.5% compared to 13.5%)
