Division 08's disability statistics relate directly to need for assistance due to a severe or profound disability. Dominant groups
Analysis of the need for assistance of females in Gold Coast City compared to Burleigh Heads shows that there was a higher proportion of females who reported needing assistance with core activities.
Overall, 5.7% of the female population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 4.3% for Burleigh Heads.
The major differences in the female age groups reporting a need for assistance in Division 08 and Burleigh Heads were:
- A larger percentage of females aged 85 and over (41.5% compared to 33.0%)
- A larger percentage of females aged 80 to 84 (25.7% compared to 18.0%)
- A larger percentage of females aged 70 to 74 (9.5% compared to 6.3%)
- A smaller percentage of females aged 75 to 79 (12.2% compared to 15.1%)
Emerging groups
The major differences in the female age groups reporting a need for assistance between 2006 and 2021 in Division 08 were in the age groups:
- 20 to 59 (+104 females)
- 70 to 74 (+69 females)
- 65 to 69 (+54 females)
