Analysis of the household/family types of recent arrivals in Gold Coast City shows that there was a lower proportion of recent arrivals in couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion in one-parent families compared to Greater Brisbane in 2021. Overall, 41.5% of recent arrivals were in couple families with child(ren) and 8.3% were in one-parent families, compared with 49.2% and 7.5% respectively for Greater Brisbane.
There were a similar proportion of recent arrivals in lone person households and a higher proportion in couples without children. Overall, the proportion of recent arrivals in lone person households was 4.5% compared to 4.6% in Greater Brisbane while the proportion in couples without children was 29.3% compared to 24.8% in Greater Brisbane.
