Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Central Geelong in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (348 people or 32.3%)
  • Community and Personal Service Workers (164 people or 15.2%)
  • Managers (123 people or 11.4%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 635 people in total or 59.0% of the employed resident population.

In comparison, Lara employed 18.0% in Professionals; 13.6% in Community and Personal Service Workers; and 10.2% in Managers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Central Geelong and Lara were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed as Professionals (32.3% compared to 18.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed as Machinery Operators And Drivers (2.4% compared to 9.3%)
