Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Surf Coast Shire in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Construction (2,075 males or 21.7%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (818 males or 8.5%)
- Retail Trade (681 males or 7.1%)
In combination, these three industries employed 3,574 males in total or 37.3% of the total employed male resident population.
In comparison, G21 Region employed 20.0% in Construction; 6.3% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 8.3% in Retail Trade.
The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Surf Coast Shire and G21 Region were:
- A larger percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (8.5% compared to 6.3%)
- A larger percentage of males employed in construction (21.7% compared to 20.0%)
