Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in East Gippsland Shire in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (1,715 males or 17.8%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (1,107 males or 11.5%)
  • Manufacturing (914 males or 9.5%)

In combination, these three industries employed 3,736 males in total or 38.7% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Regional VIC employed 17.2% in Construction; 9.7% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; and 10.5% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of East Gippsland Shire and Regional VIC were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (11.5% compared to 9.7%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in accommodation and food services (6.6% compared to 5.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (3.4% compared to 4.4%)
