Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Auburn in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (2,191 people or 16.5%)
  • Retail Trade (1,506 people or 11.3%)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (1,220 people or 9.2%)

In combination, these three industries employed 4,917 people in total or 36.9% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Girraween - Toongabbie employed 13.9% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 8.0% in Retail Trade; and 3.2% in Accommodation and Food Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Auburn and Girraween - Toongabbie were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in accommodation and food services (9.2% compared to 3.2%)
