Dominant groups

Analysis of the qualifications of the male population in Canberra Region in 2021 compared to Regional NSW shows that there was a higher proportion of males holding formal qualifications (Bachelor or higher degree; Advanced Diploma or Diploma; or Vocational qualifications), and a lower proportion of males with no formal qualifications.

Overall, 54.2% of the male population aged 15 and over held educational qualifications, and 36.0% had no qualifications, compared with 51.6% and 38.4% respectively for Regional NSW.

The major differences between qualifications held by the male population of Canberra Region and Regional NSW were:

  • A larger percentage of males with Bachelor or Higher degrees (17.5% compared to 14.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of males with No qualifications (36.0% compared to 38.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of males with Vocational qualifications (29.0% compared to 30.1%)

The largest changes in the qualifications of the male population in Canberra Region between 2006 and 2021 were in those with:
