Dominant groups

Analysis of the need for assistance of people in the Canberra Region Joint Organisation area compared to Upper Lachlan Shire shows that there was a lower proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.

Overall, 5.3% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 6.0% for Upper Lachlan Shire.

The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in Canberra Region Extended and Upper Lachlan Shire were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (24.0% compared to 20.9%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 65 to 69 (6.7% compared to 5.4%)
