Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Cook Shire in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Managers (190 males or 20.2%)
- Technicians and Trades Workers (168 males or 17.9%)
- Labourers (167 males or 17.8%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 525 males in total or 55.9% of the employed male resident population.
In comparison, Regional QLD employed 14.7% in Managers; 25.1% in Technicians and Trades Workers; and 13.7% in Labourers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Cook Shire and Regional QLD were:
- A larger percentage of males employed as Managers (20.2% compared to 14.7%)
- A larger percentage of males employed as Labourers (17.8% compared to 13.7%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed as Technicians and Trades Workers (17.9% compared to 25.1%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed as Professionals (11.2% compared to 13.6%)

The number of employed males in Cook Shire increased by 19 between 2016 and 2021.
