Dominant groups

Analysis of the need for assistance of people in the South East Queensland compared to Sunshine Coast Council shows that there was a higher proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.

Overall, 7.0% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 6.2% for Sunshine Coast Council.

The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in Toowoomba Regional Council and Sunshine Coast Council were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (27.0% compared to 24.3%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 70 to 74 (11.8% compared to 9.3%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 65 to 69 (9.0% compared to 6.7%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 75 to 79 (16.7% compared to 14.7%)

Emerging groups

The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance between 2016 and 2021 in Toowoomba Regional Council were in the age groups:
