The ability of the population to access services and employment is strongly influenced by access to transport. The number of motor vehicles per household in Central Coast NSW quantifies access to private transport for those speaking a language other than English at home.
The number of motor vehicles among the non-English speaking population may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as the Age Structure of that population, ability to drive and availability of other transport options (eg. public transport) in the area of residence.
Number of motor vehicles data should also be viewed in conjunction with Number of Bedrooms and Household Size to build up the story of the non-English speaking populations in Central Coast Council area.

Analysis of the car ownership of Chinese languages speakers in Central Coast NSW in 2021 compared to Regional NSW shows that 91.9% were in households that owned at least one car, while 6.4% did not, compared with 92.7% and 5.9% respectively in Regional NSW.
Of those that owned at least one vehicle, there was a larger proportion owned just one car; a smaller proportion owned two cars; and a smaller proportion that owned three cars or more.
Overall, 38.4% of Chinese languages speakers were in households that owned one car; 37.3% owned two cars; and 16.2% owned three cars or more, compared with 30.9%, 40.0% and 21.8% respectively for Regional NSW.
