Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Mountains and Valleys in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (372 females or 19.3%)
  • Education and Training (246 females or 12.8%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (168 females or 8.7%)

In combination, these three industries employed 786 females in total or 40.9% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Southern Lakes and The Entrance employed 27.7% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 13.2% in Education and Training; and 0.5% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Mountains and Valleys and Southern Lakes and The Entrance were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (8.7% compared to 0.5%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in professional, scientific and technical services (6.9% compared to 4.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (19.3% compared to 27.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in retail trade (8.4% compared to 12.2%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed females in Mountains and Valleys increased by 145 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest change in the jobs held by the female resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Mountains and Valleys was for those employed in:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+62 females)
