Dominant groups

Analysis of the need for assistance of males in Central Coast NSW compared to Valleys shows that there was a higher proportion of males who reported needing assistance with core activities.

Overall, 6.1% of the male population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 4.7% for Valleys.

The major differences in the male age groups reporting a need for assistance in Gosford City and Valleys were:

  • A larger percentage of males aged 70 to 74 (8.1% compared to 2.5%)
  • A larger percentage of males aged 75 to 79 (13.4% compared to 9.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of males aged 85 and over (38.2% compared to 53.3%)
