Employment status

In 2021, 79,692 females who were living in the City of Casey were employed, of which 46.7% were working full time and 45.7% part time.

Employment Status is an important socio-economic indicator. Employment in Australia is generally the main way people earn an income and is an important determinant of participation in some parts of society.

Understanding the employment status of females and males can assist in looking at potential barriers to employment, such as child care and carer responsibilities, differing income levels and taxation. Typically, males show higher rates of employment participation than females in most areas, as females are more likely to take time out of the labour force for children and are more likely to return part-time afterwards.

Employment status information should be looked at in conjunction with Household Type, Occupation and Income topics.
