Analysis of the household/family types of non-English speakers in the City of Casey in 2021 compared to City of Greater Dandenong shows that there was a higher proportion of non-English speakers in couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion in one-parent families. Overall, 74.5% of non-English speakers were in couple families with child(ren), and 8.2% were one-parent families, compared with 57.5% and 13.9% respectively for City of Greater Dandenong.
There were a lower proportion of non-English speakers in lone person households and a lower proportion in couples without children. Overall, the proportion of non-English speakers in lone person households was 2.8% compared to 5.4% in City of Greater Dandenong while the proportion in couples without children was 11.5% compared to 15.5% in City of Greater Dandenong.
