Dominant groups

Analysis of the country of birth of the non-English speaking population in the City of Casey in 2021 compared to Nillumbik Shire shows that there was a larger proportion of people born overseas.

Overall, 74.3% of the non-English speaking population was born overseas, compared with 58.9% for Nillumbik Shire.

The major differences between the countries of birth of the non-English speaking population in the City of Casey and Nillumbik Shire were:

  • A larger percentage of people born in India (17.9% compared to 4.2%)
  • A larger percentage of people born in Afghanistan (9.1% compared to 0.1%)
