The Age Structure of the non-English speaking population in the City of Casey provides key insights into the level of demand for age based services and facilities such as child care, and language services. Dominant groups

Analysis of the non-English speaking population in the City of Casey in 2021 compared to City of Whittlesea shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 21.8% of the non-English speaking population was aged between 0 and 14, and 8.3% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 18.2% and 14.5% respectively for City of Whittlesea .

The major differences between the age groups of the non-English speaking population in the City of Casey and City of Whittlesea were:

  • A larger percentage of people aged 10 to 14 (6.6% compared to 5.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of people aged 70 to 74 (2.2% compared to 3.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of people aged 75 to 79 (1.4% compared to 2.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of people aged 65 to 69 (3.1% compared to 4.3%)

Emerging groups

From 2016 to 2021, City of Casey's non-English speaking population increased by 45,243 people (42.2%). This represents an average annual population change of 7.29% per year over the period.
