Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the people in low income households in City of Casey in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Technicians and Trades Workers (1,463 persons or 18.7%)
- Labourers (1,312 persons or 16.8%)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (1,164 persons or 14.9%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 3,939 people in total or 50.3% of the employed people in low income households.
In comparison, Greater Melbourne employed 13.4% in Technicians and Trades Workers; 15.5% in Labourers; and 16.4% in Community and Personal Service Workers.
The major differences between the jobs held by people in low income households of the City of Casey and Greater Melbourne were:
- A larger percentage of people employed as Technicians and Trades Workers (18.7% compared to 13.4%)
- A larger percentage of people employed as Machinery Operators And Drivers (12.7% compared to 8.9%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Professionals (6.4% compared to 11.2%)
