Analysis of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander household types in the City of Casey in 2021 compared to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander households in Hume City shows that there was a higher proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 36% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 28.3% were one-parent families, compared with 30% and 31.0% respectively for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander in Hume City.
There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 11.3% compared to 12.9% in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander in Hume City while the proportion of couples without children was 15.8% compared to 19.4% in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander households in Hume City.
