Dominant groups
Analysis of the language spoken at home by children aged 12 to 17 years in the City of Casey in 2021 compared to Greater Melbourne shows that there was a smaller proportion of people who spoke English only, and a larger proportion of those speaking a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).
Overall, 58.0% of children aged 12 to 17 years spoke English only, and 36.9% of% spoke a non-English language, compared with 68.3% and 27.4% respectively for Greater Melbourne.
Other than English, the dominant language spoken at home by children aged 12 to 17 years in the City of Casey was Hazaraghi, with 5.1% of the population, or 1,526 people speaking this language at home.
The major differences between the languages spoken at home for children aged 12 to 17 years of the City of Casey and Greater Melbourne in 2021 were:

The largest changes in the spoken languages of children aged 12 to 17 years in the City of Casey between 2016 and 2021 were for those speaking:
- Hazaraghi (+1,218 persons)
- Punjabi (+376 persons)
- Malayalam (+254 persons)
- Tamil (+223 persons)
