Dominant groups

Analysis of the language spoken at home by children aged 0 to 4 years in the City of Casey in 2021 compared to the total population in the City of Casey shows that there was a smaller proportion of people who spoke English only, as well as a smaller proportion of those speaking a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).

Overall, 52.2% of children aged 0 to 4 years spoke English only, and 40.9% of% spoke a non-English language, compared with 53.1% and 41.8% respectively for the total population in the City of Casey.

Other than English, the dominant language spoken at home by children aged 0 to 4 years in the City of Casey was Punjabi, with 7.3% of the population, or 2,023 people speaking this language at home.

The major differences between the languages spoken at home for children aged 0 to 4 years of the City of Casey and the total population in the City of Casey in 2021 were:
