Dominant groups

Analysis of the language spoken at home by people aged 25 to 54 years in the City of Casey in 2021 compared to Mornington Peninsula Shire shows that there was a smaller proportion of people who spoke English only, and a larger proportion of those speaking a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).

Overall, 47.2% of people aged 25 to 54 years spoke English only, and 47.7% of% spoke a non-English language, compared with 88.5% and 6.3% respectively for Mornington Peninsula Shire.

Other than English, the dominant language spoken at home by people aged 25 to 54 years in the City of Casey was Punjabi, with 6.1% of the population, or 9,669 people speaking this language at home.

The major differences between the languages spoken at home for people aged 25 to 54 years of the City of Casey and Mornington Peninsula Shire in 2021 were:
