Dominant groups

Analysis of the language spoken at home by people aged 65 years or more in the City of Casey in 2021 compared to City of Melton shows that there was a larger proportion of people who spoke English only, and a smaller proportion of those speaking a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).

Overall, 62.8% of people aged 65 years or more spoke English only, and 32.2% of% spoke a non-English language, compared with 57.2% and 37.2% respectively for City of Melton.

Other than English, the dominant language spoken at home by people aged 65 years or more in the City of Casey was Italian, with 2.4% of the population, or 933 people speaking this language at home.

The major differences between the languages spoken at home for people aged 65 years or more of the City of Casey and City of Melton in 2021 were:
