Dominant groups
Analysis of the household/family types of people aged 12 to 24 years in the City of Casey in 2021 compared to Greater Melbourne, shows that there was a higher proportion of people aged 12 to 24 years in couple families with child(ren) as well as a similar proportion in one-parent families. Overall, 69.8% of people aged 12 to 24 years were in couple families with child(ren), and 18.2% were in one-parent families, compared with 61.3% and 18.3% respectively for Greater Melbourne.
There was a lower proportion of people aged 12 to 24 years in lone person households and a lower proportion in couples without children. Overall, the proportion of people aged 12 to 24 years in lone person households was 0.9% compared to 2.7% in Greater Melbourne while the proportion of couples without children was 4.2% compared to 5.5% in Greater Melbourne.
