Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Cardinia Shire in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (6,895 males or 22.4%)
  • Manufacturing (3,960 males or 12.8%)
  • Retail Trade (2,527 males or 8.2%)

In combination, these three industries employed 13,382 males in total or 43.4% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Pakenham Precinct employed 20.1% in Construction; 15.4% in Manufacturing; and 9.5% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Cardinia Shire and Pakenham Precinct were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in construction (22.4% compared to 20.1%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (2.8% compared to 1.0%)
