Dominant groups

Analysis of the language spoken at home by children aged 5 to 11 years in City of Canterbury Bankstown in 2021 compared to Greater Sydney shows that there was a smaller proportion of people who spoke English only, and a larger proportion of those speaking a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).

Overall, 43.3% of children aged 5 to 11 years spoke English only, and 49.2% of% spoke a non-English language, compared with 62.5% and 32.4% respectively for Greater Sydney.
