Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types of Italian speakers in the City of Canning in 2021 compared to City of Gosnells shows that there was a lower proportion of Italian speakers in couple families with child(ren) as well as a similar proportion in one-parent families. Overall, 28.6% of Italian speakers were in couple families with child(ren), and 8.7% were one-parent families, compared with 35.3% and 9.2% respectively for City of Gosnells.

There were a higher proportion of Italian speakers in lone person households and a higher proportion in couples without children. Overall, the proportion of Italian speakers in lone person households was 18.6% compared to 18.1% in City of Gosnells while the proportion in couples without children was 40.2% compared to 34.8% in City of Gosnells.
