Dominant groups

Analysis of the qualifications of recent overseas arrivals in the City of Canning in 2021 compared to the total overseas born population in the City of Canning shows that there was a similar proportion of people holding formal qualifications (Bachelor or higher degree; Advanced Diploma or Diploma; or Vocational qualifications), as well as a similar proportion of people with no formal qualifications.

Overall, 66.5% of recent overseas arrivals aged 15 and over held educational qualifications, and 29.7% had no qualifications, compared with 66.5% and 29.6% respectively for the total overseas born population in the City of Canning.

The major differences between qualifications held by the recent overseas arriving population of the City of Canning and the total overseas born population in the City of Canning were:

  • A larger percentage of people with Bachelor or Higher degrees (48.2% compared to 43.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of people with Vocational qualifications (6.1% compared to 11.6%)
