Dominant groups
Analysis of the ancestry responses of the population in Tongala and District in 2021 shows that the top five ancestries nominated were:
- Australian (1,795 people or 47.1%)
- English (1,524 people or 40.0%)
- Scottish (448 people or 11.8%)
- Irish (429 people or 11.3%)
- German (143 people or 3.8%)
In combination these five ancestries account for 4,339 responses in total, or 113.94% of all responses.
The major differences between the ancestries of the population in Tongala and District and Echuca were:
- A larger percentage of people with Australian ancestry (47.1% compared to 42.7%)
- A larger percentage of people with Filipino ancestry (2.2% compared to 1.0%)
