Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Cairns North in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (417 females or 31.8%)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (229 females or 17.5%)
  • Retail Trade (131 females or 10.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 777 females in total or 59.3% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Cairns employed 27.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.7% in Accommodation and Food Services; and 11.0% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Cairns North and Cairns were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in accommodation and food services (17.5% compared to 10.7%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (31.8% compared to 27.2%)
