Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Byron Bay in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Accommodation and Food Services (761 people or 24.0%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (349 people or 11.0%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (292 people or 9.2%)

In combination, these three industries employed 1,402 people in total or 44.1% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Byron Shire employed 13.1% in Accommodation and Food Services; 14.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 8.9% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Byron Bay and Byron Shire were:
