Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Croydon in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (374 people or 13.1%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (364 people or 12.8%)
  • Education and Training (326 people or 11.5%)

In combination, these three industries employed 1,064 people in total or 37.4% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Croydon (South) employed 12.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 12.7% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 13.1% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Croydon and Croydon (South) were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in wholesale trade (2.6% compared to 1.4%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in financial and insurance services (8.7% compared to 7.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in education and training (11.5% compared to 13.1%)
