Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in City of Burnside in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (4,260 people or 19.1%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (3,045 people or 13.7%)
  • Education and Training (2,467 people or 11.1%)

In combination, these three industries employed 9,772 people in total or 43.8% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Greater Adelaide employed 17.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 7.1% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 9.0% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of the City of Burnside and Greater Adelaide were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (13.7% compared to 7.1%)
