Division 2's occupation statistics quantify the occupations in which the residents work (which may be within the residing area or elsewhere). This will be influenced by the economic base and employment opportunities available in the area, education levels, and the working and social aspirations of the population. When viewed with other indicators, such as Educational Qualifications and Individual Income, Occupation is a key measure for evaluating Division 2's socio-economic status and skill base.

'In the main job held last week, what was the person's occupation?' and 'What are the main tasks that the person himself/herself usually performs in that occupation?'
Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Division 2 in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Technicians and Trades Workers (508 males or 23.5%)
- Labourers (475 males or 22.0%)
- Machinery Operators And Drivers (367 males or 17.0%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 1,350 males in total or 62.6% of the employed male resident population.
In comparison, Bundaberg Regional Council employed 22.6% in Technicians and Trades Workers; 18.7% in Labourers; and 15.0% in Machinery Operators And Drivers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Division 2 and Bundaberg Regional Council were:
- A larger percentage of males employed as Labourers (22.0% compared to 18.7%)
- A larger percentage of males employed as Managers (16.1% compared to 13.8%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed as Professionals (7.3% compared to 10.8%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (3.5% compared to 6.5%)
Emerging groups
The number of employed males in Division 2 increased by 487 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in the occupations of male residents between 2016 and 2021 in Division 2 were for those employed as:
- Labourers (+136 males)
- Technicians and Trades Workers (+117 males)
- Machinery Operators And Drivers (+67 males)
