Ancestry
The three largest ancestries in Derrimut in 2016 were Vietnamese, Filipino and Australian.

Dominant groups
Analysis of the ancestry responses of the population in Derrimut in 2016 shows that the top five ancestries nominated were:
- Vietnamese (1,099 people or 13.3%)
- Filipino (1,009 people or 12.2%)
- Australian (938 people or 11.3%)
- Chinese (815 people or 9.9%)
- English (746 people or 9.0%)
In combination these five ancestries account for 4,607 responses in total, or 55.70% of all responses.
