Dominant groups

Analysis of the five year age groups of Kew in 2021 compared to Camberwell shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 15.1% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 19.3% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 15.8% and 21.8% respectively for Camberwell.

The major differences between the age structure of Kew and Camberwell were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 30 to 34 (6.4% compared to 4.7%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 25 to 29 (6.6% compared to 6.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 85 and over (3.3% compared to 4.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 5 to 9 (4.8% compared to 5.5%)

From 2006 to 2021, Kew's population increased by 1,897 people (8.5%). This represents an average annual population change of 0.55% per year over the period.
