Analysis of the household/family types in Rural East in 2021 compared to the City of Greater Bendigo shows that there was a higher proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 40.5% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 5.9% were one-parent families, compared with 26.0% and 11.6% respectively for the City of Greater Bendigo.
There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 15.6% compared to 27.3% in the City of Greater Bendigo while the proportion of couples without children was 31.3% compared to 25.9% in the City of Greater Bendigo.
