Dominant groups

Analysis of the language spoken at home by people aged 25 to 34 years in the City of Greater Bendigo in 2021 compared to Regional VIC shows that there was a larger proportion of people who spoke English only, and a smaller proportion of those speaking a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).

Overall, 83.5% of people aged 25 to 34 years spoke English only, and 10.8% of% spoke a non-English language, compared with 81.0% and 12.3% respectively for Regional VIC.

Other than English, the dominant language spoken at home by people aged 25 to 34 years in the City of Greater Bendigo was Karen, with 2.1% of the population, or 330 people speaking this language at home.

The major difference between the languages spoken at home for people aged 25 to 34 years of the City of Greater Bendigo and Regional VIC in 2021 was:
