An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Wonthaggi District in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (637 people or 18.6%)
- Retail Trade (529 people or 15.4%)
- Construction (444 people or 13.0%)
