Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Phillip Island in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (635 males or 23.1%)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (262 males or 9.5%)
  • Retail Trade (215 males or 7.8%)

In combination, these three industries employed 1,112 males in total or 40.4% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Bass Coast Shire employed 22.5% in Construction; 7.0% in Accommodation and Food Services; and 8.4% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Phillip Island and Bass Coast Shire were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in accommodation and food services (9.5% compared to 7.0%)
