Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in West Precinct in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (1,258 people or 18.7%)
- Education and Training (650 people or 9.6%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (590 people or 8.8%)
In combination, these three industries employed 2,498 people in total or 37.1% of the total employed resident population.
In comparison, the City of Banyule employed 16.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 11.2% in Education and Training; and 10.6% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of West Precinct and the City of Banyule were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (18.7% compared to 16.4%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (8.8% compared to 10.6%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in construction (7.6% compared to 9.2%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in education and training (9.6% compared to 11.2%)

The number of employed people in West Precinct increased by 1,155 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in the jobs held by the resident population between 2016 and 2021 in West Precinct were for those employed in:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (+315 persons)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (+145 persons)
- Construction (+131 persons)
- Public Administration and Safety (+127 persons)
