More East Precinct residents worked in health care and social assistance than any other industry in 2021.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in East Precinct in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,107 people or 14.7%)
  • Public Administration and Safety (900 people or 12.0%)
  • Education and Training (815 people or 10.8%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,822 people in total or 37.5% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, the City of Banyule employed 16.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 7.6% in Public Administration and Safety; and 11.2% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of East Precinct and the City of Banyule were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in public administration and safety (12.0% compared to 7.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (14.7% compared to 16.4%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed people in East Precinct increased by 386 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the resident population between 2016 and 2021 in East Precinct were for those employed in:
