More North East Precinct female residents worked in health care and social assistance than any other industry in 2021.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in North East Precinct in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,132 females or 24.5%)
  • Education and Training (824 females or 17.9%)
  • Retail Trade (425 females or 9.2%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,381 females in total or 51.6% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Viewbank employed 24.6% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 16.8% in Education and Training; and 7.7% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of North East Precinct and Viewbank were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in retail trade (9.2% compared to 7.7%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in construction (3.3% compared to 2.2%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in education and training (17.9% compared to 16.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in financial and insurance services (3.2% compared to 6.1%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed females in North East Precinct increased by 357 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the female resident population between 2016 and 2021 in North East Precinct were for those employed in:

  • Accommodation and Food Services (+77 females)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+73 females)
  • Construction (+53 females)
