Mid Precinct's industry statistics identify the industry sectors in which the residents work (which may be within the residing area or elsewhere). This will be influenced by the skill base and socio-economic status of the residents as well as the industries and employment opportunities present in the region.
When viewed in conjunction with Residents Place of Work data and Method of Travel to Work, industry sector statistics provide insights into the relationship between the economic and residential role of the area.

Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Mid Precinct in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (2,122 people or 17.8%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (1,473 people or 12.4%)
- Education and Training (1,381 people or 11.6%)
In combination, these three industries employed 4,976 people in total or 41.8% of the total employed resident population.
In comparison, Heidelberg employed 21.0% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 12.4% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 11.2% in Education and Training.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Mid Precinct and Heidelberg were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed in public administration and safety (7.4% compared to 6.2%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (17.8% compared to 21.0%)

The number of employed people in Mid Precinct increased by 1,423 between 2016 and 2021.

- Construction (+197 persons)
- Public Administration and Safety (+160 persons)
