Five year age groups

In 2021, the largest age group in Mid Precinct was 35 to 39 year olds. The group that changed the most since 2016 was 10 to 14 year olds, increasing by 232 people.

Dominant groups

Analysis of the five year age groups of Mid Precinct in 2021 compared to North Precinct shows that there was a similar proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a similar proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 18.0% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 19.9% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 18.4% and 20.0% respectively for North Precinct.

The major differences between the age structure of Mid Precinct and North Precinct were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 85 and over (4.3% compared to 2.5%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 25 to 29 (6.0% compared to 4.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 70 to 74 (4.4% compared to 5.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 15 to 19 (4.6% compared to 5.4%)

Emerging groups

From 2016 to 2021, Mid Precinct's population increased by 1,318 people (6.0%). This represents an average annual population change of 1.16% per year over the period.

The largest changes in age structure in this area between 2016 and 2021 were in the age groups:

  • 10 to 14 (+232 persons)
  • 70 to 74 (+212 persons)
  • 0 to 4 (-197 persons)
  • 5 to 9 (+196 persons)
