Dominant groups
Analysis of the five year age groups of Mid Precinct in 2021 compared to North Precinct shows that there was a similar proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a similar proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 18.0% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 19.9% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 18.4% and 20.0% respectively for North Precinct.
The major differences between the age structure of Mid Precinct and North Precinct were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 85 and over (4.3% compared to 2.5%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 25 to 29 (6.0% compared to 4.6%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 70 to 74 (4.4% compared to 5.6%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 15 to 19 (4.6% compared to 5.4%)
Emerging groups
From 2016 to 2021, Mid Precinct's population increased by 1,318 people (6.0%). This represents an average annual population change of 1.16% per year over the period.
The largest changes in age structure in this area between 2016 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 10 to 14 (+232 persons)
- 70 to 74 (+212 persons)
- 0 to 4 (-197 persons)
- 5 to 9 (+196 persons)
