Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Ballina Shire in 2021 compared to East Ballina shows that there was a higher proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a similar proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 23.3% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 10.7% were one-parent families, compared with 21.7% and 10.5% respectively for East Ballina.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 26.6% compared to 23.9% in East Ballina while the proportion of couples without children was 29.3% compared to 30.7% in East Ballina.
