Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in the City of Ballarat in 2021 compared to the City of Greater Bendigo shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 25.0% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 12.1% were one-parent families, compared with 26.0% and 11.6% respectively for the City of Greater Bendigo.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 29.0% compared to 27.3% in the City of Greater Bendigo while the proportion of couples without children was 24.9% compared to 25.9% in the City of Greater Bendigo.
