Dominant groups

Analysis of the qualifications of the male population in Greater Sydney in 2021 compared to Regional WA shows that there was a higher proportion of males holding formal qualifications (Bachelor or higher degree; Advanced Diploma or Diploma; or Vocational qualifications), and a lower proportion of males with no formal qualifications.

Overall, 58.3% of the male population aged 15 and over held educational qualifications, and 33.7% had no qualifications, compared with 46.0% and 39.7% respectively for Regional WA.

The major differences between qualifications held by the male population of Greater Sydney and Regional WA were:

  • A larger percentage of males with Bachelor or Higher degrees (31.6% compared to 9.6%)
  • A larger percentage of males with Advanced Diploma or Diplomas (8.5% compared to 6.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of males with Vocational qualifications (18.2% compared to 30.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of males with No qualifications (33.7% compared to 39.7%)

Emerging groups

The largest changes in the qualifications of the male population in Greater Sydney between 2016 and 2021 were in those with:

  • Bachelor or Higher degrees (+141,651 males)
  • Advanced Diploma or Diplomas (+22,043 males)
  • Vocational qualifications (+14,924 males)
  • No qualifications (+11,473 males)
