Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Greater Perth in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (118,436 females or 23.3%)
- Education and Training (69,198 females or 13.6%)
- Retail Trade (54,633 females or 10.7%)
In combination, these three industries employed 242,267 females in total or 47.6% of the total employed female resident population.
In comparison, Northern Territory employed 22.0% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 14.0% in Education and Training; and 8.1% in Retail Trade.
The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Greater Perth and Northern Territory were:
- A larger percentage of females employed in retail trade (10.7% compared to 8.1%)
- A larger percentage of females employed in mining (3.1% compared to 0.8%)
- A larger percentage of females employed in professional, scientific and technical services (7.0% compared to 4.9%)
- A smaller percentage of females employed in public administration and safety (5.9% compared to 17.3%)

The largest changes in the jobs held by the female resident population between 2011 and 2021 in Greater Perth were for those employed in:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (+43,777 females)
- Education and Training (+19,411 females)
- Accommodation and Food Services (+9,464 females)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (+6,143 females)
